  • Automated Material Handling in Food & Beverage Company

Our client is one of the largest food and beverage business in the world, ranked top 100 on Fortune500 company and has interests in the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of grain-based snack foods, beverages, and other products. As a global leader, the client is focused on unleashing the company’s full potential by pivoting their focus towards sustainable accelerated growth and embracing new mission and vision and winning with purpose.

Previously, multiple forklift drivers are being activated to transport the consumer goods from one workstation to the other. As a result, labour cost of each driver soar, reaching up to 67,200USD per driver a year. In addition, a huge amount of time is taken up from the drivers leading to a lower productivity within operations, leaving them with lesser time to work on higher value tasks effectively. Lastly, this process lead to many safety issues as workers are handling goods of high payload.

  • Automated Material Handling in Aerospace Manufacturing

Our client is an aerospace manufacturer with global service operations. They are also one of the Raytheon companies specialising in homeland security and other government markets throughout the world, focusing on the design, manufacturing and service of aircrafts engines industry. Other than aircrafts engines, client also manufactures gas turbines for industrial and power generation. They work with an explorer’s heart and a perfectionist’s grit to design, build and service through innovating and engineering for aviation.

Initially, technicians will have to manually push aircraft engines in trolleys from the inventory facility to the next point. This process is very labour-intensive and dangerous if the technicians are not careful. Additionally, there is no universal trolley that is able to transport engine parts that vary in different sizes. This resulted in intra-logistics inefficiency on our client’s end as they will have to go on more trips to transport these engine parts which is also very time-consuming.

  • Automated Material Handling in Aviation

The Royal Australian Air Force’s 36 Squadron (RAAF 36 SQN) is a strategic transport squadron. It is located at RAAF Base Amberley, Queensland, and controlled by No. 86 Wing, which is part of Air Mobility Group. The unit headquarters comprises executive, administrative and operational components. The squadron operates eight Boeing C-17 Globemaster IIIs. The Boeing C-17 Globemaster III is a large millitary transport aircraft transporting troops and cargo throughout the world.

RAAF 36 SQN was interested in exploring whether there are ways to simplify and automate the movements of aircrafts parts. Our proposal laid out the vision for automated delivery of parts and equipment, phasing it from the simplest part of the problem to the end-state complete vision.
